 | 05:08 pm - New York Governor David Patterson to Submit Bill Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage Full Article: Aqui
Gov. David A. Paterson plans to introduce legislation on Thursday to make marriage between same-sex couples legal in New York, advancing his push for greater rights for gay men and lesbians, at a time when other states have done so.
Mr. Paterson’s plans represent the most public effort yet by the governor, who has been a consistent supporter of gay rights, to position himself and New York at the crest of a broadening national movement.
[...]
...it is also something of a political gamble, because the legislation faces an uphill climb in the State Senate. Democrats acknowledge that they do not have enough votes there to get the measure approved, meaning that its chances could rest in the hands of a few Republicans.
The governor also risks alienating socially conservative voters at a time when he can least afford to drive away any more support.
[...]
“The timing was always right,” Mr. Paterson said on Tuesday as he announced an economic-development grant in Nassau County. “It’s just who is willing to take that step. And I am.”

 | 09:43 am - South Park Creators Given Signed Photo of Saddam Hussein

(from Telegraph.co.uk)
Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, were given a signed photo of Saddam Hussein by US marines after the former Iraqi leader was shown their movie in prison.
During his captivity, US marines forced Saddam, who was executed in 2006, to repeatedly watch the move South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut, which shows him as gay, as well as the boyfriend of Satan. He was also regularly depicted in a similar manner during the TV series.
The admission comes with the show's 13th season already running in the US. It will celebrate its 12th anniversary later this year.
[...]
Stone, 37, said both he and Parker, 39, were most proud of the signed Saddam photo, given to them by the US Army's 4th Infantry Division.
He said: "We're very proud of our signed Saddam picture and what it means. Its one of our biggest highlights. I have it on pretty good information from the marines on detail in Iraq that they showed Saddam the movie. Over and over again –- which is a pretty funny thought. That's really adding insult to injury."

Most of the items you need to solve the games are either orange or blue and looks like they should be picked up. If you get stuck, try combining items in your inventory together.

 | 07:15 am - A Lost Theory In the episode Cabin Fever, one of the items that Richard Alpert offers to young John Locke is the same compass that he gives John on the island in the episode Jughead. I wonder if there is something on the island that would allow John to go back in time (maybe even be reborn). I think that's why Richard was so upset that John chose the knife; he was hoping that John would chose the compass, which would mean that he had been successfully reborn or whatever.
Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble. I'm just getting off of work and I'm really tired.

 | 10:12 am - Work Update Okay. So I just got off work, and I'm really tired, but I'm trying to stay awake until about noon so my sleep schedule will be a little more regular. These hours are driving me crazy. If I could find a steady job with the promise of advancement that was also a graveyard shift right now, I'd totally take it. But all of those jobs are taken by fucking assholes who refuse to quit so I can do something decent for a living. Bastards!
Meanwhile, I did work a temp job last week. The owner of both this company and another company I have gone through have both forwarded my resume on to some higher power or other. Meanwhile, I'm just typing away, doing what I can and hoping that the magical job fairies will come along and give me something to do that isn't quite so tedious and noisy. I love the site, just neither of my bosses.
Anyway. Yadda yadda yadda. Just be thankful I have a job and all that, I suppose.

 | 09:08 pm - Positive Thoughts, Please. I just got off the phone with my friend Tim. Tim is one of my closest friends. He can say more with a roll of his eyes and a flick of his wrist than most people can say with their voice. He is authentic punk rock, and I'm incredibly jealous because I could never be just like him.
Today, Tim informed me that he just got out of the hospital, and that he has a cyst on his pancreas that is cancerous. Or at least, that's what they said at first. Now they're saying it could just be a growth. They took a sample of tissue, and they'll let him know tomorrow. Either way, he has to go into the hospital on Monday and get cracked open to get things cut out. He'll be in the hospital for seven to ten days to recuperate. Plus they're saying that in two months he's got to go in and something removed from his lung.
When I talked to him on the phone he laughed at all the bad, inappropriate jokes I was making to try and make him feel better. But when I asked him if he had been freaking out, he admitted that the drugs they had given him at the hospital were just now starting to wear off and that he was starting to worry.
I've had a lot of friends and lovers getting sick lately. Maybe it's because they're all around a certain age where men tend to have health problems. Maybe it's just because many of the guys I hang out with don't lead healthy lifestyles. I don't know. And at least one friend and one lover have come out healthier, so I'm really hoping that Tim comes out okay, too. So please send positive thoughts his way. Current Mood: hopeful
